Boli Khela
The local term for ‘wrestling’ in Chittagong is ‘boli khela’. Boli Khela is a traditional game which began to be patronized by the Muslim rulers. The best wrestlers of the nobility would take part in such kind of game to show their strength and technique in front of the mass people. On this occasion, the place would wear a festive look. Drums would be beaten.
Pahela boishakh is a great occasion for the Bangladeshis to celebrate the first day of the new year of Bangla Calendar, and while various kinds of program are organized in different times throughout the first month of Boishakh of Bangla Calendar ‘Boli khela’ remains an integrated part of the celeberation.
